Lifschitz Tails for the Anderson Model 1
نویسنده
چکیده
We present, in an expository way, an elementary rigorous proof (patterned after an argument of Kirsch-Martinelli) that the Anderson model has Lifschitz tails in very great generality.

Internal Lifschitz Tails
Many years ago, E. M. Lifschitz argued that the integrated density of states at the edge of the spectrum of a random system in v dimensions should vanish roughly as exp[ ( E Eo)-V/2]. The rigorous proof of Lifschitz tails is a problem that interested Mark Kac over a period of time (see, e.g., Refs. 2 and 3). During the period I knew Mark, ! invariably enjoyed my interactions with him, and I am ...
متن کاملLocalization transition, Lifschitz tails, and rare-region effects in network models.
Effects of heterogeneity in the suspected-infected-susceptible model on networks are investigated using quenched mean-field theory. The emergence of localization is described by the distributions of the inverse participation ratio and compared with the rare-region effects appearing in simulations and in the Lifschitz tails. The latter, in the linear approximation, is related to the spectral den...
متن کاملLifshitz tails for random perturbations of periodic Schrödinger operators
The present paper is a non-exhaustive review of Lifshitz tails for random perturbations of periodic Schrödinger operators. It is not our goal to review the whole literature on Lifshitz tails; we will concentrate on a single model, the continuous Anderson model.
متن کاملLifschitz Tails and Localisation for a Class of Schrödinger Operators with Random Breather-type Potential
We derive bounds on the integrated density of states of Schrödinger operators with a random, ergodic potential. The potential depends on a sequence of random variables, not necessarily in a linear way. An example of such a random Schrödinger operator is the breather model, as introduced by Combes, Hislop and Mourre. For these models we show that the the integrated density of states near the bot...
متن کاملModifications to Walker-Anderson Model for Analysis of High-velocity Penetration of an Eroding Long-rod Projectile into Semi-infinite Concrete Targets
This paper presents a modified form of the Walker-Anderson (W-A) model for analyzing high velocity penetration of an eroding projectile into a concrete target in which the W-A model is improved by incorporating calculations for the plastic flow field of concrete in terms of its compressibility and strain rate sensitivity under severe pressure. With the changes to and calculations of plastic fie...
